Best Foods to Celebrate Back to School

By Lorena Roberts on August 22, 2017

Back to school is always a special time of the year. There are sales all over the place — just hit up Target for the cutest new trends. Sometimes you can get so caught up in decorating and moving in, that you forget to celebrate “back to school!” Getting food delivered is quite possibly the best way to celebrate — it eliminates the clean-up and it’s so convenient.

Some of the best foods to get delivered and ways to get food delivered are as follows.

1. Panera

It might not be the greasy burger that you wanted, but Panera is perfect for a small gathering. Meeting up with your girlfriends at your new apartment for brunch? Bagels and coffee from Panera would be perfection. Here’s my suggested menu straight from the website:

Bagel Pack: $13.99

•Cinnamon Crunch, Blueberry, and Cinnamon Swirl are some of my favorites!

•Don’t forget the cream cheese: Honey Walnut is the best (on every type of bagel) and 2 oz. is only $1.29!

•Cinnamon Rolls, Coffee Crumb Cake, and any kind of muffin from Panera will absolutely complete your perfect brunch with your ladies.

When getting Panera delivered, there’s usually a $5 minimum for delivery (makes total sense) and then a $3 delivery fee. This can vary, depending on the size of your order and your location.

Panera delivery is a pretty new thing, so if you haven’t tried it yet, it’s something to look into for sure.

2. Pizza

It’s only the best way to celebrate back to school with a big get-together. If you’re having a little (or big) shindig at your place (or somewhere else), pizza = convenience. It’s so easy to order some pizzas, grab some paper plates, some 2-liters, and let your guests literally have at it.

There are so many types of pizzas to choose from; if you want to give your guests, a nice selection, make it a combination shindig with all types of toppings and crust options. Thin or thick? Cheese or sausage? Supreme?

Your guests will be happier if they have more options. So I suggest planning ahead and ordering plenty. After all, college kids love pizza.

3. Catering

If you’re throwing a big enough back-to-school bash, you might want to consider catering for your event. All your favorite restaurants probably cater. I’d personally suggest a place like Moe’s. It’s easy to have places cater if their menu is “build your own.” No one likes showing up to an event with pre-made soggy sandwiches. I would not recommend that.

If you’re going to have any of the following events, you should cater:

•Birthday parties, small and large

•Corporate events

•Large parties (like too many people to order pizza for)

•Anywhere that you want to have a food buffet

•If you’re just trying to be fancy

4. GrubHub

This is the way to go if you want food delivered from somewhere that doesn’t typically. It’s pretty easy to use. If you’ve never done it before, you definitely should. Just visit their website or download their app and get your food in a jiffy!

Obviously, there’s a charge. So don’t be surprised. You’re paying for the convenience.

5. Random hole-in-the-walls (that happen to have delivery)

In every town, there’s always a set of restaurants that end up surprising people. It may not look like it on the outside, but their menu is to die for. And there’s absolutely no replacement. Lots of times, these little places will deliver. It’s the perfect place to get food for your back to school party. Even if you aren’t throwing a party, ordering food from a little restaurant down the street is a good way to de-stress when classes are right around the corner.

One of the best ways to celebrate going back to school is a huge bash with your friends — and LOTS of food. While you’re getting your decor ready and that super cute outfit you just bought, worry about one less thing by having your food delivered! You won’t regret it.

College students wish more places would deliver. These are some of our top picks:

1. Taco Bell

Imagine how awesome it would be to get a good buzz going and then put in a TBell order. It would show up right at your door. Basically heaven.

2. Cookout

I don’t know how popular Cookout is on your campus, but it’s the bee’s knees in Knoxville. If Cookout could deliver trays with quesadillas and mini corn dogs, I think it would become everyone’s go-to restaurant when they’re turning up.

3. Chipotle/Moe’s

I know. They aren’t the same restaurant and everyone has their preference of one over the other. But imagine if they delivered. When you’re sitting at home, craving some queso, it would only be a phone call away. Talk about a quick way to increase business!

4. McDonald’s

Imagine if you could get $20 worth of chicken nuggets delivered right to your door step when you’re #wasted. McDonald’s is already dominating the fast food world, so why not dominate the delivery world as well?

5. Your favorite restaurant

At any point in time, it’s hard to say how much you would pay for your favorite restaurant to bring your favorite dish right to your door. Double? Triple? Maybe; it depends on how drunk you are.

Delivery food is changing the world. As we get lazier, restaurants get more profitable off our lazy butts. So keep on keepin’ on. It’s mutually beneficial.
