About Me
I graduated from Brown University in 2008 with a B.A. in Biology and straight A's in all of my science classes, but believe it or not, I was terrified of science as a high schooler. It wasn't until I discovered the power of studying with classmates that I began to fully understand calculus, chemistry, physics and biology -- the classes I had so despised as a teenager.

As someone who's been there, I can help you improve your grades and intuitively understand the terrible and beautifu...

Rachel has helped both of my kids either through their high school classes, in particular math and also prep for the SAT. She is smart, patient and a good teacher. Also very communicative. She gets back to you right away.

I worked on chemistry with Rachel, and she cleared up confusion about the topic I had been having for several weeks in just two hours. I told her my general concerns before the meeting, and she brought relevant textbook pages and example problems. We went through the topic of rate laws with corresponding problems at a progressive rate. I'm so excited I found her and to keep working with her.

Rachel worked with my son, who is in college and has to take the Compass test in math. He really enjoyed working with Rachel!

Rachel helped with both AP Calculus and AP Physics. She is extremely knowledgeable and is very good with explaining concepts clearly. She helped me understand which allowed me to solve the tough problems. Having her there allowed me to actually enjoy my two toughest classes. Awesome, awesome tutor!

For many of us, part of the struggle with calculus was learning and applying all the "rules" without appreciating the purpose of the methods. Rachel has been great helping my daughter understand the "why" of what she is studying, rather than just the "what."

Rachel worked with our daughter this fall to prepare for the ISEE. Not only does our daughter feel ready for the test, but she is much more confident in math this year, and has a great foundation in important concepts going forward!
- Kelley S. from Seattle, WA
Rachel has helped our daughter brush up on her fifth-grade math skills after a summer of very little math. She instilled confidence in her in only a few lessons, focusing on what she does well as well as what she needs work on.
- Eliza A. from Seattle, WA
100 point SAT math score improvement after just two 120 minute sessions. Very knowledgeable about test content and strategy.

Great job of coming up with summer plan! Thanks Rachel...I think you are really going to help me pass my test.

Rachel is a very good tutor and teacher. She is knowledgeable and stepped into a time of high anxiety. She calmed the anxiety and focused my high school daughter to learning the lessons at hand. The lessons were difficult and Rachel helped my daughter to break each part down and work through the sequence -- providing the patience and diligence needed. Specifically, in the past couple of weeks, Rachel has worked with my daughter on organic chemistry; 5 electron domain geometry names and VESPER. There is much more that she has worked with my daughter on, so please contact me if you need more information. I cannot recommend Rachel more highly. thank you.

Rachel is prompt, dependable, conscientious and highly skilled in math and science tutoring. She was recommended to me by a friend who described her as fantastic.... and she is! Rachel is on time and very easy to work with in regard to scheduling. She is easy to communicate with via email (my preference). She has tutored both chemistry and pre-calc for my child. In both cases her knowledge level allowed her to quickly identify what was needed and implement a plan seamlessly. She does't just give the answer, she explains how to get to the answer and then guides the student through the process. Afterward, I receive an email outlining what was worked on and any additional info I should know. She has great rapport with her students with just the right combination of friendliness and helpfulness. Billing is easy and straightforward.

Rachel tutors my daughter, (high school sophomore), in Physics. We've been very happy with all the tutoring sessions. Rachel is punctual, professional and has a depth of understanding with Physics content, and does a great job teaching my daughter each week. My daughter always gets her Physics questions answered and Rachel is always willing to follow up if additional help or sessions are needed. We definitely recommend Rachel for Physics tutoring.

We've had the pleasure of partnering with Rachel for the past 5 weeks. Our experience has been excellent at every turn. She is on time, adaptable, provides follow up summaries, offers suggestions and self study prompts (video, study guides etc). I would be delighted to respond to anyone interested in Rachel as a tutor for their child. In summary, FANTASTIC!

I came to Rachel for help with the verbal section of my MCAT. I received a 6 when I took the exam, and was having a very hard time grasping the main ideas of the passages. The first few sessions we worked together to find a personalized approach that would work for me. After finding a way that we thought worked best for me, my scores increased dramatically!! I was shocked! I went from getting a 6 to getting 12's! I would highly recommend Rachel, as she is very patient and understanding, and has made a huge difference in my studying.

We were fortunate to have connected with Rachel, who seemed to quickly grasp what our son needed during his first tutoring session with her. We appreciated her follow-up communication on how the sessions went - what was covered and her thoughts on what and why certain areas were hard for him. We highly recommend Rachel and if he needs help in the future, we hope it will work to reconnect. Thank you Rachel!

We started to work with Rachel for some extra tutoring for our 7 year old daughter because we felt her local public school was not challenging and preparing her enough. Rachel had not had extensive experience working with elementary school-age kids but was clearly very bright (Brown grad planning to go to med school) and expressed an interest in challenging herself to tackle a different tutoring experience. She has impressed us with an ability to connect with our daughter to make their sessions fun, and to a present cogent, systematic review of what seem to be our daughters strengths and weaknesses in the curricular content. We feel we made an excellent decision to choose Rachel for our daughter and would recommend her without reservation.

Rachel is very knowledgeable in chemistry, and is able to answer all my questions. If not, then she is dedicated to finding out the right answer. She is always on time and explains concepts very well and in detail. Overall, I am very pleased with her professionalism and ability as a tutor.

Rachel has been by far my best experience with wyzant! She made a conscious effort to become familiar and comfortable with the material I was working on, and obtained additional problem sets for me to practice with after we completed the work I had been assigned. She also made herself accessible to me via email and text before and after we started working together. I feel way more prepared in my genetics class and will continue to work with Rachel.
